The Royal Charity for Widows and Orphans Initiative is a non-governmental, non-political, Non-ethnic, non-religious, non-profit organization based in Ughelli Delta State, Nigeria. Was formally known as Royal Ladies Club and was founded in Feb, 1999 by EVANG. (MRS.) ELIZABETH OJUROMU DORTIE, B.A.EDUC. It has a branch in Festac Town, Lagos. Its governing body is made up of a Board of Trustees, Executive Directors and appointed Patrons/Matrons and Covenant Partners. The RCWWOI works in close collaboration with other NGO’s and International and National Agencies in order to effectively utilize the capacities of families, individuals, organizations and government to address the needs of widows and their children.
VISION STATEMENT
Our efforts at RCFWOI is geared towards the alleviation of the problems of the people aptly describe by Mohammed Yunis in his Autobiography, ‘Banker to the Poor’, who says that “Anybody who is jobless, homeless, illiterate, landless, who does not produce enough food to feed his/her family all year-round, a person with a thatched house that lets in rain, a person suffering from a malnutrition, a person who owns less than twenty five acres of land is a poor person, male or female”. The Royal Charity agrees and affirms that, “that man or woman is in poverty and needs empowerment.
To cater for widows and their fatherless children.
To keep the hope of the Orphans alive.
To work in close collaboration with other NGOs and International Agencies in order to effectively utilize the capacities of individuals, organizations and government to address the needs of Widows and Orphans.
To set up a skills Acquisition Centre where cottage industries such as ice-cream/popcorn production, tie & dye making, catering, tailoring, computer literacy for literate youths and widows etc.
For the purpose of raising and generating funds and other resources for the realization of its aims and objectives, the NGO may:
Accept donation (Whether cash and/ or kind) from individual, Corporate Bodies, Associates and organizations in Nigeria and Internationally.
Receive grants or assistance from individuals, trusts, organizations and any other Charitable or philanthropic Organizations in Nigeria and Abroad.
Collect monies and financial assistance from or by any of the lawful sources or means.
Assistance in form of clothes, food items, simple drugs, monies, books, computers, teaching aids, kitchen equipment’s etc, would be gratefully accepted.
